Donna Herrmann is a self taught fine art photographer born in Dover, New Jersey in 1968. Donna grew up in a creative family spending much of her childhood on the water in New Jersey and Key West, Florida. She now calls beautiful Hunterdon County, New Jersey home.

After picking up her first 110 film camera 1980, she graduated to a 35mm camera in 1984 while taking photography class in high school. This camera served her well until 1999 when she tried her first digital point and shoot. She continues to hone her photographic skills on a daily basis, while traveling locally, nationally and in 2012, internationally.

Donna’s vision drives her to capture unusual and artistic scenes in places that people have forgotten about or places that people pass by. Her series “Environmental Disaster” and “Consigned to Oblivion” are testimony to her dedication. Donna also enjoys capturing more traditional visions of nature & landscape.

As a member of AGS- The Association for Gravestone Studies, she hopes to help educate those she knows of the importance of preserving gravestones and local history.

Donna’s photography has received local and state recognition. Most notably, the State of New Jersey. New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection chose the photograph “Licky Lulu” out of thousands of photos to celebrate Green Acres’ 50th Anniversary.

“I try to capture what I personally feel is special, unique, different or “un-seen”, be it the subject, an angle, the lighting, or a mood. My goal is to convey that feeling, message or view to you.

I enjoy traditional techniques, but I also have fun with creative techniques in photography, one of which is HDRI. (High Dynamic Range Imaging0 HDRI is a blend of multiple exposures of the same view, capturing greater depth and detail of that scene.

I believe that photographs remind of us of what we have forgotten.”
